Judge Posner Critiques Patent System

Reuters interviewed Judge Posner following his dismissal of the Apple and Motorola patents case involving Google’s Motorola Mobility device. In the interview, Judge Posner expressed his skepticism of the patent system because it tends to disfavor consumers. According to the judge, this is a result of the “proliferation” of patents in technological devices and their components, as well as the ability of the technological industry to pay hefty legal fees for litigation.
