Kappos to Step Down as Director of the USPTO

David Kappos is to step down from his post as Director of the United States Patent and Trademark Office as early as end January 2013, after four years of serving as the U.S. Undersecretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property. Deputy Director Teresa Stanek Rea is said to be in position to assume the role of acting Director although no official statement as to Director Kappos’s successor has been made.

Tiffany Mahmood

Tiffany Mahmood is a second year student at Fordham University School of Law and the incoming Editor-in-Chief for Volume 24 of the IPLJ. Originally from London, England, Tiffany studied to become a wig-wearing British Barrister before moving to the United States. She is a Senior Conference Fellow at the Fordham IP Institute, assisting in organizing the annual Fordham Intellectual Property Conference, and plans to pursue a career in Patent law in the U.S.
